I recall that I spoke with Bill and his wife when making telephone calls to round up attendees for the 50th. Nice conversation; first one with him in 50 years. As I recollect, he was then retired, perhaps from teaching, and said it was unlikely that he would make the reunion . . . but appreciated the call.

At Lawrenceville, Bill lived in Dawes House and was involved in the photography club. He went on to receive his bachelors and then his master’s degree in environmental protection and radiation from Rutgers University.

For 10 years, Bill taught middle school science and math at the Germantown Academy In Philadelphia. He will always be remembered for teaching with a boa constrictor hanging around his neck to get the attention of his students. He also taught science at Fordham University in New York and, after settling in Millville, N.J., with his family, at Cumberland County College as well.

Bill retired in 2004 after spending over 20 years at PSE&G, where he worked in radiation protection. He also was a trainer for PSE&G in emergency planning with Cumberland County Emergency Management, and worked closely with many local area fire departments for emergency preparedness. Bill was a member of the National Association of Science Teachers and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

He enjoyed woodworking, playing bridge, and was a true expert at creating countless magnificent Lego creations. Most of all, Bill treasured the time that he was able to share with his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carole “Carrie” Weckstein; son Michael Charles Weckstein; and a grandson.
